A new IMEX survey of 140 women currently working n the meetings, events and incentive travel industry showed that many women still share concerns about how to achieve a sustainable work life balance. However, many of the women's workplace issues were hardly gender specific: time management in an age of 'always on' communication vehicles, understanding how to be assertice, guiding clients towards ethical business practices; motivating younger employees; staff retention; achieving board level support; and cmmunicating the real value of meetings and events. Not surprisingly, they respondents would like to improve not only their sales and marketing skills but also their negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Although the results of the survey will be used to drive the first ever Women's Leadership Forum at IMEX in Frankfurt this May, the results of the survey showed that meeting and event professionals have many of the same concerns, regardless of gender.
